The Alpha Elegant Dual is a 4-Line alphanumeric pager with two frequency capability. The pager can be programmed to automatically scan both frequencies or allow the user to manually select between receiving modes of primary frequency, secondary frequency, or scan. The Alpha Elegant Dual is identical to the Alpha Elegant pager with the exception of the two frequency capability. It is also identical to the Alpha Legend Dual pager with the difference being the number of available alerting addresses. The Alpha Elegant Dual has 8 addresses and 32 sub-addresses (functions) while the Alpha Legend Dual has twice the number of addresses and sub-addresses. The pager can display 20 characters per line on its 4-Line display and has a zoom feature that will display 10 larger characters per line in 2-Line format. 19 personal messages can be stored in memory, each with up to 2025 characters. Maildrop information messages can contain up to 5052 characters each. 10 important messages can be locked and not replaced when memory becomes full.
The Alpha Elegant Dual Pager Programmer is a package consisting of a programming fixture, a DB9 serial cable, a 5 VDC 1A power adapter and programming software. All Unication alphanumeric pagers use the same programming fixture, so it is compatible with Alpha Elegant, Alpha Legend Plus, Alpha Legend Dual, and Alpha Elite pagers. The POCSAG based programming software is used with all of these pagers with the exception of the Alpha Elite FLEX pager.

The programming software, too, is common to the Alphanumeric line of pagers and can be used to program all but the Alpha Elite pager that has its own programming package.

The pager uses the FLEX coding format, is available in VHF or 900 Mhz models, has 16 programmable capcodes, and operates with 25 kHz wideband channel spacing. Narrowband channel spacing is available. The Alpha Elite uses a single “AA” alkaline battery and has an estimated battery life of 90 days, based on receiving 2 pages/day at the 512 baud rate.

The fixture is common for all of Unication’s alphanumeric pagers, so along with programming the Alpha Elite pager, the fixture can also be used when programming Alpha Elegant, Alpha Elegant Dual, Alpha Legend Dual, and Alpha Legend Plus pagers. The Alpha Elite programming software is a standalone package for programming the FLEX protocol and will not program any of the other POCSAG type alphanumeric pagers from Unication.
The Alpha Legend Dual is a 4-Line Alphanumeric Pager that can be programmed to automatically scan two operational frequencies or allow the user to change scanning modes. If programmed to automatically scan, the pager will detect which of the primary or secondary frequencies programmed into the pager is operational at that time and lock on to the active frequency. If the user is allowed to select the scan mode, either of the two frequencies can be manually selected or the pager can be set to auto scan. The Alpha Legend Dual pager has all the features and performance of the Alpha Elegant Dual pager, the difference being in the number of available capcode addresses. The Alpha Legend Dual has 16 capcode addresses and 64 sub-addresses while the Alpha Elegant Dual has half that number. The Legend Dual is fully synthesized, operates in the VHF, UHF, or 900 MHz frequency bands, has wideband channel spacing, and uses the POCSAG coding format.
The Alpha Legend Dual Pager Programmer includes a programming nest or fixture, a DB9 serial cable, a 5 VDC 1A power adapter, and programming software. The programming fixture is used as a common part for all Unication alphanumeric pager programmers, so it is compatible with Alpha Elegant, Alpha Elegant Dual, Alpha Legend Plus, and Alpha Elite pagers as well. The programming software for the Alpha Legend Dual was developed for all Unication alphanumeric pagers using the POCSAG coding format, so it can be used interchangeably with the previously listed pagers except the Alpha Elite FLEX pager.
The Gearstar Pager Battery Charger is a standalone unit that can recharge up to 10 Gearstar Pagers stacked on top of each other with the Battery Charger at the bottom of the stack. A Gearstar Pager’s rechargeable battery can only be charged while in a Gearstar Pager. To begin charging, a 5 VDC 1.2A wall adapter is connected to the Battery Charger and an external AC power source. The Charger’s power LED should light. The first Gearstar Pager can then be placed on the Charger by lining up the charging contacts and lightly pushing the pager down into position. Additional Gearstar Pagers can be stacked on top of each other. The power LED of each pager will light if the pager is stacked correctly and will remain on during the charging cycle. When fully charged, the pager’s power LED will turn off. The Gearstar Battery Charger will not damage the batteries by overcharging.
The Gearstar FLEX pager is ideal for situations requiring a paging device to only alert. Hospitals, restaurants, and hotels are just a few of the many places that can conveniently use the Gearstar pager. The FLEX coding version of the pager operates in the 900 MHz band, is fully synthesized, has 6 programmable addresses and wideband channel spacing. Once paged, the Gearstar can alert with a strong audio tone, vibration, or flashing red LED’s. Of these modes, two of the three can be configured to alert at the same time.
